Lightroom Mobile Preset Installation Guide

Natalie Napoleon

Hi! You’re here because you downloaded the Brand Beautiful Preset Pack. I’m Natalie Napoleon, Product Photographer and Creator of the Brand Beautiful Preset Pack. Now that you downloaded your zip file, it’s time to install your presets. In the videos below, I’m going to show you two ways to download and install your presets. In the first video, I’m going to show you how to download and install your presets on your computer. And in the second video, I’m going to show you how to download and install your presets on your phone.

In this video, I show you how to install your presets in the desktop version of Adobe Lightroom. This version does require a subscription to Adobe’s Creative Cloud, and you can pick up the photography plan for $9.99/month and have access to Adobe Lightroom Classic, Adobe Lightroom CC, which stands for Creative Cloud, Adobe Lightroom Mobile for your iPhone and iPad, as well as Adobe Photoshop. What’s really nice about having a subscription is that once you’ve installed your presets into the desktop version of Lightroom, you’ll have access to them across all of your devices.

You’re also able to sync all of your photographs across all of your devices.

Once you have entered your information in to download the Brand Beautiful Preset Pack, you’ll be taken to a page where you can download the zipped pack.

In the middle of the page, you’ll see a link to download your Brand Beautiful Preset Pack. If you’ve already done that, then you have the zip file on your system. If you haven’t, go ahead and click it now and download your zip file.

Next thing you’re going to do is open a finder window. I’m on a Mac, so all my lingo is going to be Mac specific however, your presets work just as well on a PC and an Android as they do on a Mac or an iPhone.

You can save your presets on any folder on your system. I like to put them in my pictures folder.

The next thing I’m going to do is create a new folder. To do that, I’m going to hold Shift + Command + N and I’m going to title this folder ‘Presets’. Then, I’m going to hover over the dock at the bottom of my screen and click on my downloads folder. I have my downloads folder configured to open as a fan, and I’ve also set it up to show me the most recently downloaded file at the bottom of that list, so I can very easily locate my Brand Beautiful Preset Pack zip file and drag it and drop it into the presets folder I just created. Next, double click your zip file. Once it’s opened, you’ll see one main folder called Brand Beautiful Preset Pack, which includes two folders, one with XMP files and one with DNG files.

The XMP files are for your desktop and the DNG files are for your phone. Let’s go ahead and open Adobe Lightroom. On the right side of the screen, you’ll see three sliders. Go ahead and click on those sliders.

Once that window opens up, under the word edit, you’ll see a ‘Preset’ button. Click on that preset button and in the fly out window, click on the three buttons in the upper-right-hand corner and choose ‘Import Presets’. Navigate over to your Pictures folder > to the Presets folder > into the Brand Beautiful Preset Pack main folder and choose the folder of XMP files. Click ‘Import’. Now all of your presets are going to import into Adobe Lightroom. Once they’ve imported into the desktop version of Adobe Lightroom, they will be available to you across all of your devices as well.

If you want to see what a specific preset will do to your image, all you have to do is hover over the preset. If there are any changes that you want to make to your presets, once you’ve chosen it, then all you have to do is go to the right side in the edit panel: You can change your exposure, or you could change your contrast, and you can change your highlights.

So that’s it for installing your presets on your desktop. In the next video, I’ll show you how to install your presets on your phone.

In this video, I’m going to show you how to download and install your presets in Adobe Lightroom Mobile on an iPhone. This method is a little more tedious than the desktop method, but nonetheless, let’s jump into my phone and get started.

This time, I’m going to download the zip file from the email I received. So in the middle of the email, you’ll see a link that says, “click here to download your very own copy of the Brand Beautiful Preset Pack”.

Let’s go ahead and click that link. We have the option to open the link in any browser. It doesn’t really matter. I like to use Chrome, so I’m going to open it in Chrome.

At the bottom of the window, it’s asking me if I want to download the zip file. I do. So I’m going to hit download. Once the file has completed downloading, it’ll ask me where I want to open it. So let’s go ahead and hit ‘open in’, scroll up and choose ‘Save to Files’.

I want to save these on my iPhone and I want to create a new folder, so I’m going to tap on the folder icon in the upper-right-hand corner and I’m going to title it ‘Lightroom Presets’. I’m going to hit ‘Done’, and then I’m going to hit save in the upper-right-hand corner.

Let’s go back to your home screen, pull down to see the search bar at the top. Type in ‘files’. Open your file app and you’ll see the folder you just created. In that folder is the zip file we downloaded from the email.

Tap on the zip file to decompress it. You’ll see a main Brand Beautiful Preset Pack folder open. Go ahead and click on that folder and you’ll see two subfolders inside of that: one has XMP files and the other has DNG files.

The DNG files are for your phone and the XMP files are for your computer. Let’s go over to the App Store for just a second. If you haven’t already downloaded Adobe Lightroom Mobile, this is the app you’re going to want to download, and it’s the same app regardless of whether or not you want to use the free version or the subscription based version. These presets will work in both of those versions.

I’m going to hit open because I’ve already downloaded Adobe Lightroom Mobile to my phone. About two-thirds of the way down the screen, I see the word ‘Albums’.

When I look to the right of the word ‘Albums’, I see a plus sign. Go ahead and hit that plus sign. And at the bottom of the screen, choose ‘Create New Folder’ and create a new folder titled Presets.

Click on that folder, ‘Create New Album’, and call it Brand Beautiful. Hit ‘OK’.

Once the album has finished creating, go ahead and open the album to add those DNG files we just downloaded. Click on the image icon down on the bottom-right-hand side of the screen and choose ‘Add photos to Brand Beautiful from files’.

Now we’re going to open that Lightroom Presets folder we just created. Then open the main preset pack folder, and choose the DNG folder. Click on the three dots in the upper-right-hand corner to ‘Select’ and on the left-hand side, at the top in blue, choose ‘Select All’, then click ‘Open’ on the right.

All of those files are going to open. Once those files have imported into the Brand Beautiful Presets folder, we’re going to create presets out of that.

So, this is the part that’s a little more tedious in the desktop version.

The desktop version automatically pulls all of these images in as presets, whereas on the phone, we need to actually go ahead and manually assign presets to each of these images.

I’m going to click on Baked Alaska to begin.

Then, click on the three dots in the upper-right-hand corner, look about halfway down that menu, maybe a little more than halfway, and choose ‘Create Preset’.

Name this preset ‘Baked Alaska’, create a new preset group and call this new group ‘Brand Beautiful’. Then hit ‘done’. Next, hit the check mark in the upper-right-hand corner, and you’ve created a preset.

Let’s do one more. This time, I’m going to open the Balance image. Then, hit the three dots in the upper-right-hand corner. Choose ‘Create Preset’. Title the preset ‘Balance’. Choose the ‘Brand Beautiful’ preset group and hit the check mark.

Exit out of that screen for a moment and choose a random image to apply the presets to.

In this example, I use a picture of earrings.

At the bottom of the screen, you’ll see the option to apply presets. So go ahead and hit the ‘Preset’ button. You’ll then see the Brand Beautiful presets we just created.

Tap to open the group and you’ll see the two presets we just saved. To apply a preset to your image, simply tap on the preset.

If you want to see what the image looked like before you applied the preset, press on the image itself and you’ll see the before. Let go to see the after.

Go ahead and finish importing or creating presets out of rest of the images you just imported, and then you’ll have your full Brand Beautiful preset pack on your phone. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to shoot me a message.

xx

Natalie
